Fortissimo Selezione di Famiglia 2008
This is our 2008 barrel selection consisting of nearly equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with approx 8% each of Cabernet Franc & Sangiovese. It is our way of paying respect to the brave men and women of Tuscany who challenged the tradition of wine making at the time to gain recognition for their wines.
Awards/Reviews:
Daenna Van Mulligan aka Wine Diva - 90 Points
"A blend of: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and
Sangiovese, aged in French and Slovonian oak barrels and puncheons and
is made from grapes in La Stella's sustainably farmed vineyards in the
South Okanagan.Sweet, upfront fruit aromas - cherries and ripe berries
with hints of dried fruit, leather and tobacco with chocolate and a
seam of mediterranean herbs throughout. It has nice structure with
plenty of fruit on the palate, finely woven with leather, tobacco and
cedar flavours - the finish is smooth with hints of toast and dark
roasted coffee."
John Schreiner - 91 Points
"...a juicy red, with sweet berries in the aroma and with flavours of cherries enhanced with savory spice".
David Lawrason - 91 Points
: "It should provide enjoyment through the decade. Length is excellent. Tasted December 2010."
91 Points - Beppi Crosariol (The Globe and Mail):
"Merlot and cabernet sauvignon with small quantities of cabernet franc and sangiovese, this well-structured red is layered with cassis, blackberry, coffee and vanilla. Decant it to soften the slightly tight tannins and pair it with medium-rare beef or cellar it for up to eight more years."
