WINEMAKER’S NOTES

A Tuscan-inspired red blend in the same family as its sibling Fortissimo, Espressivo differs in its Cabernet focus—Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc take the lead—while Fortissimo is Merlot-dominant.

Espressivo pays homage to the pioneering winemakers of Tuscany who challenged tradition in the 1950s and ’60s, redefining what the region’s wines could be.

The 2023 Espressivo captures everything we love about Super Tuscan–styled wines. Though unmistakably Okanagan in character, it could easily hold its own in a lineup of classic Super Tuscans. The fruit profile leans both red and dark—bramble and currant rather than purely black—woven with savoury, herbal, and spicy notes. A cooler vintage adds extra dimension, revealing hints of herb-crusted meat and gentle cigar box.

Alcohol levels are slightly lower, acidity brighter, and the tannins more old-school and dusty than chewy. Compared to Fortissimo, Espressivo is more structured, with edgier tannins and a more lifted, expressive nose. This is a wine we look forward to watching evolve gracefully in bottle for many years to come.
