2014 Leggiero Un-Oaked Chardonnay

Winemaker's Notes
2014 was the second warmest growing season since 1998 for the South Okanagan. 2014 vintage saw above to way above average summer temperatures. July and October where were way above last year but September was lower than the last 3 years, hence pushing for better phenolic ripeness was not a concern or at risk of gaining high alcohol. Overall, 2014 vintage will be remembered as a very hot one and it had an impact on the yields: the tonnage we got were lower than the tonnage excepted mostly because of thicker skins and smaller berried. Both the reds and the whites are concentrated and show a great balance of fruit and structure.
The best Italian Chardonnay hails from the cool climate region of Alto Adige. Almost always made in an un-oaked fashion, it is a wine that expresses the pure minerality of Chardonnay with beautiful acidity and crisp fruit flavours. The 2014 Leggiero offers up a balance of melange of yellow, green and red apples, lemon rind and white orchard fruit. The palate is harmonious with a great burst of lemon puff and green apple on the mid-palate that plays into a medium length mineral infused finish.ntage will be remembered as a very hot one and it had an impact on the yields: the tonnage we got were lower than the tonnage excepted mostly because of thicker skins and smaller berried.
